No High Rise in the heart of Lynn Valley
High Rise 18 + storeys in the heart of Lynn Valley!
The latest Lynn Valley Town Centre Implementation Plan presented by the North Vancouver District in July 30th 2012 includes HIGH RISE 18 + storey buildings at strategic locations. “Taller buildings…” according to the district plan “..allow more open space and preserve mountain views”.
Does this plan respond to the local climate, context, history and especially landscape that we want for our community in the “heart of Lynn VALLEY”? as a local resident of Lynn Valley, my answer is no.
A lot of thinking and excellent ideas are presented in this latest Draft Plan to make our community a better place for everyone; however we do feel strongly that only low to medium density up to 5 to 6 storey buildings should be considered. It is interesting that from the first public hearing, when the district started to talk about this re-development of the Lynn Valley town centre, our community worded already their concerns and a large number of participants were opposed to having high rises put in, these concerns are still there after such a long process. It is critical that we act now to word once more our disagreement.
Timeline: Summer 2012 Refinements based on consultation input.
Fall 2012 present to council for consideration of adoption.
We therefore request to the district of North Vancouver that only low to medium density building be built in the Lynn Valley Town Centre redevelopment project.
