Steve from Primrose Sands has started a petition to the Sorell council, for the green waste bin they have distributed in Primrose Sands.
Sorell Council should allow each resident with a rural block the right to opt-out of having the green waste bin if they don't need it and have other means of disposing their green waste such as composting, chickens or other animals.
Please sign the petition if you agree as the council currently doesn't allow for this. Other councils have the option.
The more people respond the better chance we have to opt-out.

The Sorell Council keeps pushing these unwanted bins on us despite our ability to compost or feed our own land. I am done asking nicely while they force fees for services we do not use.

The momentum we have built proves that the Sorell Council can no longer ignore this blatant waste of our money. They think they can force these bins on us while we handle our own green waste, but they clearly underestimated how fed up we are.

I agree with this petition and myself rang the council to request the option to opt out of a service I do not require. It serves no-one for council to take responsibility for waste, people need closer to home solutions not more transporting of waste.
We have no need for a green bin due to owning chickens, a worm farm and using composting. We shouldn't have to pay for a service we don't need.

I do not need this service, taxation without representation.
We have our own composting / mulching system .We never have green waste.

We don't need the bin, as it is a holiday place we only use 4 0r 5 times a year and we take our rubbish home.
