There have been strong hints and suggestions that the May 2020 graduation ceremony at The University of Akron is to be cancelled as a coronavirus prevention tactic. We are demanding that it not be cancelled, or, at the very least, it be rescheduled. The ceremony is a physical representation of reaching an important milestone which carries immense personal value to many involved; the students and many of their close family and friends. To take away this long-standing tradition rather than giving those graduating the choice to not partake is patently wrong. It is not an event we can get back. This petition will be sent to the president of the university, and the dean of the law school so that if not the whole university, then hopefully some of the students will have this valuable event.
While I recognize the inherent dangers presented by the coronavirus, students and families have invested a great deal in anticipation of graduation. As such, like so many others, I feel that it should be allowed to go forward. Perhaps in an outdoor framework.

For grandmas who have been waiting for this ceremony it would be worth it to get Covid19 and I am in the susceptible age group. Please have the ceremony.
