No Generative AI At Berklee- Disband Bots, Beats and Bytes

human creativity must be valued first and foremost. generative ai is a horrible, thieving, and wasteful imitation.

the entire point of music is being human. you can't just strip that away. it defeats the whole point of music.

I'm a working violinist currently studying at another music school. I also earned undergrad and master's degrees in mathematics and physics, so I am not anti-science or anti-tech. This is NOT where AI or broader machine learning belongs. Shameful!

Berklee alum here. This is so dumb. The epitome of education for profit.

So called Generative "AI" music is the colonization of shared human mental geography. It is a regressive attack on progress being forced on society by a dying colonial and extractive oligarchy. It is the opposite of high or even useful technology.

AI Lacks Intention

I think many of us, at the outset of AI, envisioned a future where AI handled boring tedium while freeing humans to pursue their passions, to pursue art. To see that spark of hope for a better future so thoroughly perverted is the weeping of me. To see that perversion so blatantly laid bare by the very institutions built to protect and nurture the font of human creativity is a travesty. To see such a transgression and remain silent on the matter is to be complicit.

I think it's important to know how AI has and will impact the industry, but using Suno generation as a "songwriting tool" is insulting to the craft itself

Music professor at a different university but I always respected Berklee. However, this is just insulting to the craft and study of music. Shame on Berklee!

AI destroys the essence of humanity in its creative thinking. To create is a natural instinct of humans.

Not attending this school, but I'm a musician myself and fully onboard with this petition. AI teaching makes the complete school pointless.

Genuinely infuriated

People involved in music education should not invest in ventures that put in risk music's value and musicians's craft!

I was a student at Berklee, and graduated in 2025. Very unfortunate.

I was horrified by this. Berklee should be ashamed of themselves. Being a musician and writing songs is an ART. But AI is a big, fat nothing. It steals from other artists and makes it easy for lazy non-musicians to produce garbage. This instructor shouldn’t be anywhere near Berklee, let along teach a class.
