Would love to see full day implemented but in a hybrid solution, 3-4 days a week.

4 days would be the optimum compromise.

I support the transition to full day kindergarten but I would love to see us retain one half day (Thursday?

I attended kindergarten here in Rye and I believe that the schedule as is now and was for me back then is perfect. It is a nice transition schedule from nursery school into elementary school.

As I look back on my time with my children during Kindergarten I loved the time I had with them on their short days. Friends from Harrison whose children were in 5 long days would complain their children were bored in school and exhausted when they came home. 5 year olds need time to rejuvenate and play. Please spend the money on other areas - such as getting class size below 30 in the high school.

Rye might be the only school district not to have full day kindergarten but maybe that is why it makes it special. That is one of the thing I liked when we moved to Rye.

Although the idea of full-day kindergarten appeals to my need for more time in my day, I believe my child's (and possibly his teacher's) needs and interests are better served by preserving the current schedule. Thank you for starting this petition!

I agree that I would love a three long day option. Seems like the best compromise to get the best of all worlds.

I'm in favor of 3 or 4 long days - not 5. I believe its in the best interests of the children.

I think partial and full days should be maintained as a way to bridge the gap between nursery school and 1st grade.

As a Pediatric Occupational Therapist, I feel that partial days are developmentally appropriate.
