The impact of hydraulic fracturing (fracking) for shale gas has for some time been systematically researched by a large body of published empirical evidence. This research has raised clear concerns about the number, nature and scope of environmental and social impacts associated with fracking technology. These concerns were recently summarised by the Stockholm International Water Institution, 2014 report (Hoffman et all, 2014). Issues identified in the review included issues with water availability, groundwater contamination, quality of surface water, air quality, GSG emissions such as methane leakages from equipment, health issues such as disease through contaminated water near well sites and social and environmental impact to well sites. Show your support, say 'No' to Fracking in Darwen!!!!

Darwen has enough issues as it is with collapsing culverts & pits & collapsing victorian sewers,and is too unstable to support Fracking - the town is overwhelmed with traffic, with inadequate roads & transport.
