The flag of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, – a red cloth with a yellow star - does not represent the eighty million Vietnamese in the country. This flag is a symbol for a group of dictators whose government took the country by force and has a long history of human right violations that is still happening in Viet Nam now. To raise this flag means that you condone the wrong doings of this regime. While the Memorial to the Victims of Communism is being established in the Capital, the office the mayor willingly raises the communist's flag outside the city hall of Ottawa. As a Vietnamese Canadian, a tax payer and a member of the voting constituency, I feel very disappointed in the mayor office for their support of a communist regime and subsequent alienation of the voting public. - P.
