I shouldn't have to read this as a letter to the editor to hear about it first. It should be in the agenda of our board meetings as an important topic. Please put it there. We are spending a lot of money to improve trails - how about keeping the open space we've already paid for?

I definitely oppose the private fence on the public easement known as "Parcel A", this is a beautiful part of our valley, and a fence will unnecessarily damage the meadow and the scenery surrounding the area. NO NEED! Let's have a community input meeting, and see how our neighbors feel about this!

I must agree with the sentiment expressed in recent conversations with my neighbors re: said subject and I request that a public hearing be held to learn the facts about this issue.
I have lived in the North Ranch for almost 30 years and remember the issue arising regarding the private drive and private gate on the road to 99 North Ranch Rd. I assume the fire department wanted a second access to the house for safety reasons and that is why the ingress and egress was created to allow the house to be constructed. The 2006 settlement seemed to have satisfied the homeowner’s concern to allow for the gate to eliminate parking in the open space. Now the current owner has expressed an apparent need for fencing the “driveway”. Putting a fence in an open space does not seem logical to me or, at the very least, I do not understand the logic for this request; however, I may have misperceptions or misunderstandings. For example, I speculated that maybe the original property owner granted the open space land in return for the driveway. In this case, I may not like it, but believe they have the right to their “driveway”.
As in almost all situations like this, there are two sides of the story. I request there to be a public hearing on this issue to air the facts about the history and the current situation regarding adding a fence along the open space, and that an informed, deliberated decision be made with the public’s input. I don’t know the reasons for not having a public hearing regarding this issue, as I am sure it is complicated, but I trust that a good and measured decision can be made when the facts are available to everyone.
I am reminded of a JFK speech that went something like this A government afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a government that is afraid of its people.

Fencing off a public easement sets a very bad precedent. There is no reason for this fence that is in the public interest. It will restrict access and impede wildlife.
