Dear Connor, The wonderful thing about petitions is that it can bring to light problems/issues that are occurring, along with solutions to fix these. That being said, I really am struggling seeing your side of this issue, and with the amount of students sharing your view, I am truly worried for our upcoming generations. To begin with, let’s take a look at the problem statement “While life isn't always fair, since roughly 10% of students don't have to write exams, the other students shouldn't have to”. While on the surface it may seem rather unfair that some students have to write exams while other do not, this issue can be further analyzed by diving deeper and seeing the underlying implications; which clearly you have not. Since your argument of “unfairness” can be related to your remark about the exams affecting students’ grades and acceptances to further education, I will tackle this as one point. You seem to be under the impression that writing your final exam could cause you to lose your acceptance to further education. While this may be true, the cut-off marks that they will let you drop down are, for the most part, in an acceptable range that any student who has been working hard all year will be able to achieve. If students who have to write their final exam end up getting a mark which revokes their acceptance, then they can only blame themselves. Cut-off criteria are there for a reason; if you are so worried about losing your acceptance, then you should have put more effort into your studies. Several studies have been carried out which indicate that students do indeed achieve higher results on their finals then their midterms. Wouldn’t you want a chance to increase your average? Maybe try and earn a scholarship? Now, these students which have been out of class for roughly 1 – 2 months have not been able keep up with the curriculum, and thus would suffer deeply if they were to write their exams. Going further with this, the students are alrea

Exams are probably gonna bring down my marks so much. I've hardly had time to do everything this semester

This is ridiculous... You cant send seniors off to universities knowing nothing. Fire all the teachers on strike and hire the ones waiting for a job.

This is totally unfair. In this case I believe everyone shouldn't write the exam. Its only fair.

It is unfair that 70'000 students don't have to write exams and the rest of us do

Its not about us not wanting to do the exam, its about us not having equal standings with the students who don't have to do exams. Their marks will be higher then ours and that's not fair

exams are alwasy going to be around. when we get to post secondary school we are going to learn to study just as more. so just keep exams and just learn to manage time and study better.

Honestly we have been doing exams for the longest time. no need to start now. when we get to post secondary school you will still have to study anyways. just plug away at writing your exams. everyone gets stressed.

We have isu and culminating a week before exams. This gives us no time to study properly which can lead to much unwanted stress, anxiety and may lead to some worst health issues. All these evaluations are making the students very stressed
