Mount Horeb Middle and High Schools: WAIT for a Community Survey on Evidence Based Grading (EBG)

The Mount Horeb School District is in a pilot year with a new grading policy, rolling it out in some classes and planning full implementation for the future. You can learn more about the policy called Evidence Based Grading (EBG) here: Mount Horeb Area School District - Grading and Assessment
Mount Horeb Middle and High Schools should wait to implement EBG and first send out a survey to the community, because they might find a significant part of the community does NOT support the change. The survey should ask:
1. Do we approve replacing A-B-C-D-F with E-P-A-B-NE?
2. Do we approve removing point-based test scores from Infinite Campus?
3. Do we approve replacing percentage-based grades with opinion-based rubrics?
4. Do we agree that students who achieve proficiency by retaking tests should be able to earn a high school GPA of 4.0?
5. Do we agree that there should be no consequences for incomplete and missing assignments?
The Middle and High Schools' survey results should be shared and used to guide decision-making. This ipetition is open until April 15th, 2025.

I have spent hours reading your notes about how these grading changes are affecting our kids at home. It is clear that many parents feel left out of this transition and want their concerns addressed before the district moves forward. My next step is organizing these stories to present to the board members so they cannot ignore our questions.

Seeing this much momentum from our neighbors confirms that I am not the only parent worried about how these grading changes impact our kids. It is heartening to know so many of you are paying attention to what happens in our classrooms.

The old way prepared us for college and the real world. Why fix what isnt broken. Listen to the community for once.
Seriously need a survey first. You guys are changing the whole system without even asking the parents what they think. Not cool.
E-P-A-B-NE??? What does that even mean. Stick to traditional grading please.
STOP EXPERIMENTING ON OUR KIDS.
My son is already so confused by this new stuff. Just keep the letter grades it works fine for everyone else.
