The Council of Commissioners confirmed today that the school start time will remain unchanged. We have officially archived the petition now that our specific objective is met. Monitoring for any future attempts to revise the schedule remains our primary focus.

Dear Council of Commissioners LBPSB,

We the parents of children attending Saint John Fisher Senior and Junior campuses, disagree with the proposed early start time being requested by the schools staff and Governing Board. It is being suggested that an earlier start time is beneficial to elementary aged children. Studies have shown that young students are more engaged in their learning during the morning hours.

We the parents are concerned that this earlier start will NOT have a positive effect on our young school children. A lot of children from both campuses (Sr. & Jr.) attend afternoon school daycare. With this earlier start our children will now have an additional hour of daycare, giving them a longer day in school. We feel that this earlier start will be a strain on our children as that extra hour is taken away from their resting time.

We ask the LBPSB Council of Commissioners not grant an earlier start time to the school day, to allow our children to have the proper rest time need to be able to perform adequately. We the parents of these children strongly believe this to be in the best interest of our children

The volume of support has reached a level that the school board can no longer overlook. I am currently finalizing a formal letter to the Council of Commissioners to ensure this data is included in the next meeting agenda.

my kids are already exhausted, how are they supposed to function if they have to wake up even earlier? leave the schedule alone.

Totally disagree with this change. Not looking forward to dragging groggy kids out of bed at an even earlier hour.

THIS IS A BAD MOVE. Parents have jobs and bus schedules to deal with. Why make it harder on everyone?

Ridiculous idea. Kids need their sleep to actually learn anything.

Please dont do this. Getting them ready in the morning is enough of a struggle as it is without pushing the clock back further.
