No data centers! Protect our water!

Data centers are a poor fit for San Marcos, period. They require enormous and continuous water use for cooling and energy production, placing long-term strain on local water supplies and the San Marcos River. In a region already prone to water scarcity and population growth, locking in permanent, high-volume industrial water users threatens residents, ecosystems, and future water security for the benefit of out-of-state corporations.

Wrong location. Limits to our water supplies. Council is not listening to its constituents.

Texas is already in a dangerous water situation! This will get so much worse very very quickly if we don’t not say no to data centers. Please for every Texans sake, no data centers in this state! They are a passing fad that will cause long term destruction with no community or statewide benefit. It benefits only the few already wealthy people who want it and Texans will pay the price! Please, please no data centers

Water is Life. We cannot live off Data. Our children and grandchildren will receive the results of our choices now. Either they will have clean water to drink and live - or they will face a drought crisis that threatens a fundamental way of life.

Please protect our waterways, the environment, wildlife, our health etc. and listen to the voices of our community. So many other cities who have allowed these centers to be built are thinking now that it was a bad idea. There is a plethora of videos and information regarding this topic and showing the harmful impacts that can occur.

As a resident of Hays County and an owner of 2 homes in the county (in San Marcos and Wimberley), I strongly oppose the development of a date center in the area. The strain on our natural resources cannot handle this development and greed should not overpower the need for clean, accessible water for residents.

Canyon Lake is significantly down in water levels and only marginally gained during the recent catastrophic Kerrville flooding. There are already massive home developments taking more water. We cannot afford to have data centres which are hoarding the water supply. This will put our Lake and aquifer levels at a critical demand level.

We need to be conserving our water and electricity. Not selling it off to the highest bidder. No to data centers.
