The organization called "Awaken" in San Diego is a radical cult that spreads disinformation, conspiracy theories, hate speech and intolerance. It has actively facilitated the disruption of school board meetings throughout the county, sought to infiltrate school boards, supported the Jan 6, 2020 insurrection, denounced democracy, vilified and dehumanized those with whom it disagrees and supports armed struggle to get its way.
Awaken is now seeking to open a full-time presence in Coronado. This will lead to more disruptions and attacks directed at Coronado's school board and elected officials, disparagement of our local churches and faith leaders, active recruitment in our community for Awaken's militia-style camps, and result in more unsuspecting Awaken followers being fleeced of their money and Coronado youth being subjected to indoctrination.
As residents of Coronado we say a resounding NO to the Awaken cult and will seek to do all in our power to ethically and energetically spread awareness of this group and seek to prevent it from establishing itself in our community.

After 13 years of giving and serving I told leadership that they could not come to Coronado because they had gravely offended mt Coronado community. in response, they excommunicated me. They are divisive, deceptive and dishonest about their intentions.
I'm a former Coronado resident. My two children both graduated from Coronado High School. The masquerade of 'AWAKEN' as a church is disingenuous at best, and in actuality, a sick ruse. I support exposing their covert anti-democracy (hidden) agenda!
This group‘s influence in our community, and our school system is dangerous. They actively push for religious theories in public school. And their political goals include defunding public schools all together. And when the district already miss-manages school funds, this is the last thing we need.
I have experienced awaken firsthand and they do not let their women speak and they call people murderers for getting an abortion after being raped —- I do not want my comrades friends kids anywhere near these weirdos
Church? Not by any definition of Christianity I know. Cult? By all appearances, YES! Seeking a foothold in Coronado (1) exploit wealthy contributors and (2) recruit military/ex-military. Extremist and dangerous.
No Hate in Coronado!
