As a former pastor at Awaken Church, I experienced firsthand the lack of harmony with other churches, even those sharing similar beliefs. Awaken Church didn't foster a collaborative spirit and didn't play nice with other congregations. Moreover, the church decided to sever ties with the C3 Global Movement due to their perceived lack of submission. There seemed to be an abuse of power within the leadership, and the pastors did not always exhibit the same sincerity they projected on stage. When my departure from Awaken Church became inevitable, the aftermath was emotionally and mentally challenging. Instead of receiving support or understanding, we were shunned by the community we once belonged to. This isolation had profound impacts on our mental well-being, leaving us feeling betrayed and disillusioned. It was disheartening to witness how a church that preached love and acceptance failed to practice it towards those who decided to leave. Additionally, during my time at Awaken Church, I observed that Mike Yaeger, a former music director at the church, used to actively oppose the narrative of David Harris Jr., an African American conservative commentator. Mike was known for supporting local African American communities and advocating for their rights. However, it seemed that Jurgen, the lead pastor, gave him a platform but with an agenda to maintain control over his messaging and keep him aligned with the church's ideology. This strategic move appeared to prioritize the church's interests over the genuine advocacy work that Mike Yaeger was passionate about. It was disheartening to witness how personal agendas and the need to control the narrative took precedence over supporting and empowering marginalized communities. This further contributed to the growing disillusionment with the church's leadership and their sincerity in addressing important social issues.

Hard no to a cult abusing the tax exempt status afforded to religious institutions setting up shop in Coronado. This is not the way.

Our scriptures are clear: ... they jeer, using words to kill; they bully their way with words. They are full of hot air, loudmouths disturbing the peace. People actually listen to them -- can you believe it? Psalm 73:8-9 (The Message) But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without a trace of partiality or hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. James 3:17-18, NRSV Updated Edition He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.     And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy     and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8, NIV I stand here.

Awaken has taken too much territory already, infecting San Diego county with messages of intolerance, exclusion, and war. We do not want them to take a foothold in Coronado.
