This has been going on in the Brooklyn School system for way too long. This latest slap in the face not only to the parents, but THE STUDENTS should be the straw that breaks the camel's back. Having students meet their next year's teacher and then finding out that wholesale switching went on, and that the students will in fact NOT have the teachers that they met is disheartening. What exacerbates the matter is that both the superintendent and the principal knew the day before and let it happen anyway. That is REPREHENSIBLE. Incompetence is running wild, and if it's true that the superintendent's contract has been extended for 2 more years it is endorsed by the Brooklyn Board of Education. It was also brought to my attention that there have been staff surveys with results hidden from the public( taxpayers you have FOI rights!!). These surveys have been exceedingly negative in regard to the administration. The superintendent has prevented the public from viewing the results and the comments that accompany them. WHY? One debacle after the other. Costing the town money for a fire alarm system that was expertly bungled by the superintendent. Telling staff there is never any money yet handing back surpluses in excess of 100K. Regularly bullying and intimidating staff so that no one will ever comment about what happens behind the walls of the schools. A regular occurrence apparently. OH, also purportedly servicing a special needs child who lives out of the district has also been a topic of concern. The list just goes on and on. With what this writer has been told a best seller could be written.

I feel as though the teachers deserve respect and appreciation, the total lack of disregard for them as well as the students best interest is disturbing. It seems things need to change for the better since the superintendent is clearly not making good choices or taking anything anyone has to say in consideration. I hope that this situation gets rectified soon.

My grandchildren attend Brooklyn elementary school and there seems to be a lack of transparency for decision making on the part of Dr. Berry, the BOE and the parents of the children

Our teachers were not informed about the involuntary move of grades and classrooms. Dr.Berry's information needs to be clarified and explained.
Mrs. Barbour has always put my child's education and welfare first.
We look forward to the BOE meeting this week.

The most recent decision to move 9 teachers the day after meet your teacher day, demonstrates a lack of insight as to how this decision would negatively impact both students and teachers; showing complete disregard for her staff, students and community. A change is needed to restore a positive atmosphere within the school and community.
