This has to be one of the craziest ideas. Please stop this and protect our tracks, trees, water, forests, farmland and us. If those states want to uses coal to generate power they can deal with the waste in their own states.

The people on the North Coast are not going to allow this threat to our environment to proceed. There is no time to waste in tackling the climate crisis and this is absolutely the wrong way to invest in the future.

The time of coal is past. Don't ship it here or through here. The rail tracks in question are inappropriate for rail transport. Let us have our Great Redwood Trail on this old rail route!

If you use google earth, take a tour of the old train tracks up the Eel - you won't believe the landslides, washouts tunnels and other obstacles to this route. You will also see how beautiful it is.

As a long-time railfan that has run the Willits to Eureka run many times in ancient history, that route is prone to landslides and washouts - dangerous, and not good if your shipping anything beyond lumber and gravel like the old days.
