Close the coal mines down. They are no good for the employees and certainly no good fir the environment.

Thank you for your vigilance and leadership. This rail line is environmentally unsound. Imagine an earthquake. If we instead have th Great Redwood Trail, the worst that could happen is a few hikers/bikers are injured, not massive pollution of our dwindling water resources.

Wong on so many counts. Unstable trackage through the Eel River Canyon leading to derailment and ecological damage to critical water sources. Coal dust contamination of vineyards along the route. Noise and pollution in all major towns and cities as well as traffic problems. When a derailment occurs it will be North Coast taxpayers that pay the bill.

The days of fossil fuels should've been over long ago. We don't want them here and we don't want them shipped abroad to be burned and continue contributing to climate change. Enough!

We should be looking for ways to reduce the use of fossil fuels worldwide, not promoting it.

Don't worry - the rail lines are unsalvageable. Coal will never make it to the North Coast!

I cannot believe in this day and age that we are still trying to use mass resources to destroy the little resources we have left! Stop this insanity...
