As a geologist, I understand the process of prehistoric plant growth and coal formation that allowed our present, breatheable atmosphere to develop. We must not reverse that by extracting and burning coal, which is naturally sequestered carbon!

Coal shouldn't be mined or burned anymore, let alone transported/exported to be burned elsewhere. And it shouldn't be shipped by rail through fragile/scenic and/or populated areas.

As a Montana native, I know coal jobs are hard to replace yet stopping coal is the right thing to do. The coal train is wrong. We can find new green jobs for the coal miners. We can’t find a new planet.
