We've walked the part of the Trail that is already completed in Ukiah. It would be a tragedy to fail to complete the rest of it.

Coal fired power plants are destroying our environment and stopping the supply of coal is a big step in preserving our environment and reducing coal pollution.

Attempting to revive and maintain this rail line for regular, extremely heavy shipments would be folly. Opening a new route to allow the export of millions of tons of coal would be a crime against the climate and all of humanity. Subjecting the Russian and Eel Rivers natural environment, populations, and economies (particularly tourism) to coal dust spewing, mile-plus long trains would be devastating.

Join the renewable parade and leave the coal in the ground. Write it off, you've had a good run, it's time for the next phase.

If we are going to survive as a species, we have to stop burning hydrocarbons.
