While I am a huge fan of exports, we do NOT need to encourage the use of coal in other countries. Not exporting coal to them is one of the few ways we might actually be able to control their gross pollution. For Pete’s sake, you want us to stop using plastic straws, drive electric vehicles and transition to alternative energy for our homes (all a drop in the bucket) but are willing to endanger millions of people, endless habitats and already suffering animals? And stop a trail that leads to better health by encouraging outdoor activities. Seriously, I roll my eyes at you … and express my distaste for an effort like this that tries to put the interests of few above the interests of many. Stop this now!

Keep your dirty coal out of our communities. We need wind and solar not dirty coal

The North Coast rail line is through a geologically unstable region. That is much of the reason it was shut down initially. Bringing coal on that line guarantees ecological disaster.

Coal burning must stop around the world. There is no planet B!

This cannot go forward. End of story.

It isn't going to happen no matter what. I can't believe there's enough demand anymore for coal to make such an endeavor profitable enough to warrant restoring and maintaining the rail line north of Willits. We all should be pushing to make the rail trail happen, though.

As a professional fisheries and wildlife biologist with past work experience in the Eel River watershed, I cannot and will not support this proposal and plan to comment and fight against it when scoping becomes available.

There is no longer a place for coal in our planet’s future if we want to survive as a species. Please stop.

Stop the transport of toxic materials through our towns, farmlands and along our rivers. Coal belongs deep in the earth, not mined and definitely not burned.
