This petition was started on behalf of the Graduate Students of Management Students Program of the University of the West Indies Open Campus. The students are disgruntled by the changes administer by the Program Delivery Department which have ultimately resulted in a lengthier schedule.

As it stands, the students of the 2016 year intake are expressing their disapproval of this change as it has deeply affected their financial, contractual, social and even psychological dispositions. Persons would have budgeted, acquired loans, entered into contractual agreements with their places of employment and even the Government of their respective countries. Making such unwarranted changes to the program schedule has now diminished all the hard work of the students who- under the previous schedule- would have been completing their program in 2017 to early 2018. Now, under limitations and restrictions of the availability of courses and increase in fees, students would be forces to stay longer doing their Masters Programs.

To us, this is unacceptable and we will fight for our program to remain the same allowing us to complete our programs within the initially outlined time-frames.

When students register for an academic program, they actually agree to the terms and conditions stipulated for the program as at the point of registration. Anything which comes after represents a breach of contract.

This is clearly a breach of contract. We signed up for the programme based on the conditions stipulated then.

This is completely unacceptable. UWI cannot arbitrarily change an entire program delivery schedule. This is ridiculous.

I signed up for this Masters programme based on the conditions and terms set then. It is unfair what UWI is suggesting.

I do not agree to any extension of my Masters programme. Also I do agree with any additional courses or exam being presently added to my degree.
