On October 16, 2013, a Congregational Meeting will be held at Temple Beth Tikvah of Fullerton, CA to determine (1) whether or not the AT&T Cell Tower contract should be extended and (2) to approve the installation of a second tower to be operated by VERIZON.

As a parent of a child enrolled at the ECLC, and after researching the harmful effects of radiation output, I am adamantly against an additional cell tower as there is an unknown element of radiation that our children are currently exposed to everyday.  I am not willing to subject my child to any increased exposure.  Furthermore, the current cell tower already exposes ECLC children to significant risks other then that of any possible radiation.  Cell tower maintenance personnel are often on the TBT campus, posing an unknown security risk to children through both their presence and the use of heavy equipment for repairs. 

Note, the Board of Directors of TBT are only looking at the income that will be generated from the two cell towers. While this is understandable given the financial vulnerability of the synagogue in recent years, the Board is not taking into consideration the health of our children - our future and our most precious resource.  Should the cell tower be installed, I and many other ECLC parents, will likely withdraw from the ECLC.  This would result in a significant loss of income to TBT, greatly exceeding the income that the temple would receive from cell tower revenue.

Accordingly, I urge you to please join me and sign this petition promising to remove your child(ren) from the ECLC if the Board of Directors does not (1) have the existing tower removed and (2) allows the installation of any additional cell tower(s).

Lastly, if you are a Temple Member and are unable to attend the congregational meeting on October 16th at 7:30 PM, please assign your proxy vote to Cliff Berkley so that I may vote NO against this proposed plan on your behalf.
