Dear Mayor & City Councillors -

Don't Gamble with Our City!

We say "NO CASINO IN NORTH BAY!" and we want you to oppose expansion of casinos in our community. Casinos are bad social, economic & government policy.

The truth about casinos & gambling is that the community loses, and it is more than just the tens of millions (over and above the pittance that they give back in grants)that will forever leave our community each year; the odds are stacked against us so don't be deceived.A casino comes here to suck money out of our economy.

Casinos do not provide facilities at "no cost to taxpayers". There is a cost, and it is wildly understated.Research confirms the resulting social impact will include:tens of millions of dollars annually leaving our local economy, increased crime and money laundering, increased health care costs, addictions, unemployment, welfare, family breakdown, damaged finances, anxiety, depression & even suicide.

Take the time to learn the true costs by looking at the research.

"Our governments should not be preying upon its citizens to create more addicts by raising money from people who can't afford to gamble by promising them a dream that isn't going to come true" Warren Buffett

Business, faith and medical leaders across North Bay area have spoken out against casino expansion and are signing a joint statement in opposition.

A financial contribution is not required to sign this petition.

I respect the medical profession's ethic: "do no harm." Weighing all the evidence, including more jobs for North Bay, I believe the social cost is too high. Thank you for refusing to accept the casino.

North Bay Defiantly doesn't need a casiNO, a lot of family use Blue Sky Bingo for their children's fund raising needs, if this casino is opened there will be less people going to play Bingo, in turn our families will have to pay more for their extra curricular activities!! get a life North Bay, and we wouldn't need to gamble!

Gambling destroyed my family when my father lost the only home we ever owned due to his gambling debts. Do you want this for other families? We are better than this. PS. I just bought a house in North Bay and will be a tax payer as of April 30th.

North Bay does not need a casino. The share of revenue received by the city will never cover the increased cost of services required and the value of lost resident spending which would otherwise be spent on local business and charities.

I do not believe a casino will benefit the community other than a few part time jobs. It will siphon a lot of irreplaceable charity dollars out of the community and bring in a litany of social issues. More people will be enticed to part with dollars they can ill afford to lose.

We are already a community struggling to stay afloat financially. We are being taxed to death and water costs are over the top. The detrimental effects that would surface from having a casino far outweigh any financial benefits that would be gained for a community our size.

A casino will do little other than take money from local people and local businesses.
