Does the gonvermont think that this tax is going to help Vermont somehow? All you have to do in look at the economic impact to the state every time the price of fuel goes up the Vermont economy goes down. I could understand this if there was an alternative (there is not).

Myself and several other people I know are on the verge of leaving Vermont because the cost of living is so high. I'd love to call Vermont home forever, but it's incredibly expensive. Counter with all of the benefits to living here as much as you like -- the majority of us have no opportunity to appreciate or enjoy those benefits because we can't afford to enjoy the skiing and other recreational pursuits. Certainly, I enjoy the beauty, but half of the year I'm too cold to fully appreciate it because heat is frightfully expensive, and I can't afford to weatherize. Nor are there enough better-paying jobs for us. I've lived many places, but nowhere have I seen so many of the general population barely scraping by each month.
Increase taxes? My property taxes already rose another $80/month this year. My propane bill is already $225/month. A carbon tax on gas and propane of $1/gallon would increase my monthly expenses another $200/month. Yet, I had ZERO increase in income this year. Last year I had a whopping $18/month increase in income. And sadly, I have a higher standard of living than most "average" Vermonters. For a state so sneering of one-percenters, it seems they're the only population that lawmakers want to remain in Vermont. Give us a break -- a tax break, that is. Unless you want to continue chasing out the population you claim to care so much about.

Many seniors and other people are on fixed incomes and struggling to make ends meet. Vermont is as expensive as it is! Vermont law makers need to stop taxing us on every single thing they can come up with!!!!!

penalizing those with financial hardships already, or fixed incomes such as seniors, is not the way to encourage switching to renewable energy.

Vermont cannot have this tax if it's people and it's economy are ever to get back on track, Heating our homes and travel to work is necessary in order to survive.

No Carbon Tax! So, because our Government can't balance their own check book or have the know how to budget our monies... this is just one new way to come up with more monies. And why is Vermont being hit so hard! This will cause such hardship for those in the industry! This is the most ridiculous thing I have heard! NO CARBON TAX!
