I am making this petition because I recently went without a car for 10 months. I lost my car in June of 2013 because of financial reasons. Well since I no longer had a car and didn't know when I was going to be getting another one, I cancelled my insurance. Well I am recently, 4/19/14, trying to get a car now and have to have insurance to get one. On doing so, they jump my rate up because I have not had insurance for this period of time. Well I have a question? Why would I have Insurance on a car that I don't have or use and what is the basis to the amount that they rate this on? I think you should NOT have to pay money for insurance if you DO NOT have a car!!! They should change the law. If you DO NOT possess a vehicle and don't know when, we should not be made to possess insurance or be our rate jumped up when we get a car. I for one don't wAnt to be forced to pay money on something that I am not using. Change the law to: if you don't have a car and are not going to possess one for over a certain amount of time then not be forced to pay for insurance. Make us show proof
