Keep it the way it is!!! a 15 minute change, I could understand, but over an hour earlier for our school is not a smart move.

7:00 AM is entirely too early for elementary students to start the school day and will drastically affect their sleep schedules.

This early start to accomodate middle school students and to let Durham Bus Services decide the schedule, based on available buses and their desired margins is not a fair move for the younger students of this district.

I guess if this change is instituted, my daughter will just have to be tardy every morning, because I am not going to sacrifice her important sleep for this, and there is no way in the world I could get her to bed that early - especially when the time changes. I have a hard enough time getting her into bed by 7:30 now - it's more like 8:15!

It seems to be a decision made by staff and not parents.

Why are you even considering disrupting the sleep/wake restorative process and the circadian rhythm of children? I refuse to put my children on at bus at 6:20 when it is still dark outside!
Sleep is critical for all ages as well as having family time. It is ridiculous to even consider children having to be on buses at 6 AM.

I understand the concern with middle school students being at home and waiting on buses long after parents have left for work. my concern is how will children who suffer from sleep deprivation ever make it out of elementary to become middle school students. Early bell times will only set children up for failure.

As a single parent with two boys going in two different directions next year this would make my life a living Hell!

This change would require my daughter who attends a magnet school that buses from around the county to leave the house before 6 AM! This is way to early for a magnet school to take in. And there are children in the school as young as 3 years old. This is simply not an acceptable change.
