Petition to Save the Aravali Hills

To,

The Hon’ble Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC),

Government of India

and

Concerned State Authorities

Subject:

Urgent appeal to protect and conserve the Aravali Hills from degradation and destruction

Respected Sir/Madam,

We, the undersigned citizens, students, and concerned individuals, respectfully submit this petition to draw your urgent attention to the rapid degradation of the Aravali Hills, one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world and a vital ecological barrier for North India.

The Aravali range plays a crucial role in:

Preventing the spread of desertification from the Thar Desert

Recharging groundwater and sustaining rivers

Regulating climate and air quality, especially in NCR regions

Providing habitat to diverse flora and fauna

Supporting livelihoods and maintaining ecological balance

Despite its immense importance, the Aravali Hills are facing severe threats due to illegal mining, deforestation, urban expansion, and lack of strict enforcement of environmental laws. Large portions of this fragile ecosystem have already been damaged, leading to water scarcity, loss of biodiversity, increased pollution, and rising temperatures.

If immediate and strong action is not taken, the continued destruction of the Aravali range will cause irreversible environmental damage, directly affecting present and future generations.

We respectfully demand the following actions:

Strict enforcement of existing environmental protection laws in the Aravali region

A complete ban on illegal mining and land encroachment

Large-scale afforestation and ecological restoration projects

Declaration of vulnerable areas as protected zones

Transparency and public participation in decisions affecting the Aravali ecosystem

Conclusion

Saving the Aravali Hills is not just an environmental issue—it is a matter of public health, climate security, and national responsibility. We urge the authorities to take immediate and decisive action to ensure that the Aravali remains alive, so that we may all survive.

We sincerely hope our voices will be heard and acted upon.

Sincerely,

Concerned Citizens / Students / Environmental Supporters

Pahal Vyas
