Stop Angry Orchard from taking over all of Seattle!
Cider in Seattle is under attack! A new brand has been making the rounds and convincing bars to drop the ciders they carry in favor of Angry Orchard. The situation would not be as dire if they were simply making Angry Orchard an addition to their offerings. But bars are outright replacing their ciders with this brand. Angry Orchard is not good. But we don't care if you want to carry this brand as long as you have a better cider to offer. Ciders are not as widely offered like beers, most places will only carry 1 or 2 brands. This is why it is so important that establishments care about the cider they offer! We will let the owners know how we feel and that they need to offer a better cider (in addition if they choose to keep Angry Orchard) for our business.
Here are some places that only offer Angry Orchard, please let us know of other establishments that should be added to this list:
The Unicorn (used to serve Magners)
Jillian's (used to serve Strongbow)
95 Slide
Imperial Lanes
R Place
Together we can make sure that Seattle does not get overrun with sub-par cider!
What are good ciders? This can be a subjective term but here is a short list, not all are great, but all are better than Angry Orchard! The rule of thumb should be one cider should be your typical apple cider, it shouldn't be a flavor. Then the additional offerings can be unique flavors. These top ciders listed below are all a traditional apple cider except where noted.
Great ciders:
Magners
Aspall
Dupont Cidre Bouche Brut
Finnriver Fire Barrel
JKs Scrumpy
Samuel Smith Organic Cider
Westons
Ace Pear
Crispin Browns Lane
Wyders Raspberry and Apple
Ciders that are OK:
Strongbow (cans only! bottles taste bad for some reason!)
Woodchuck (granny smith not so much)
Woodpecker
Crispin
Original Sin
Wyders Pear
