No 5X increase of afterhours quarry traffic on San Lorenzo Ave, Felton CA

The Granite Construction Quarry has proposed an extension of its mining permit to increase by 5X off-hours traffic through our community. The trucks already disregard speed limits, jake brake limits, and exhaust restrictions on San Lorenzo Ave. The quarry already has an exit on Empire Grade (that they don't allow anyone else to use) that can handle any additional needed traffic for their operations, merely making their trucks have to drive a little farther. This is an after-hours permit, for weekends and night times, when our community would be most affected. We are already heavily impacted during the day with noise pollution and air pollution, and any more is unacceptable and unnecessary, merely to increase their bottom line at the expense of our neighborhood. The quarry already is the major source of water pollution, air pollution, and noise pollution in our neighborhood, and the trucks exacerbate that.

Seeing this kind of energy keeps me going when the rumble of those late night trucks feels like it will never end. This shows the quarry bosses that we refuse to let them turn our quiet streets into a permanent industrial highway.

I oppose increased truck traffic, after hours and weekends on San Lorenzo Ave. The majority of truck drivers do not obey posted speed limit of 15 mph. Some use jake break. The increased noise and smell of diesel on weekends and at night would severely diminish my enjoyment of my property.
My family lives on this road, we need to keep it safe for residents and children who live on San Lorenzo. The amount of cars and the speeding is already an issue. Increasing quarry traffic is not going to help us keep it safe. Thank you

Talking to residents on Empire Grade has convinced me that insisting that traffic avoid San Lorenzo is not enough. We have to unite all nearby residents, above and below the quarry, to get them to ensure truly sensitive environmental practices in general.
Here is the response I received from the county. It indicates the meeting and the official recommendation of the planning committee has not been made, so your pressure is now very important. Keep it up! Mr. Hager, Thank you for your questions about the application submitted by Granite Construction requesting an increase in the number of off-hours operations allowed under their permit. An off-hours operation means operation of the asphalt plant at night or on a Saturday to supply a public paving project. One off-hours operation means one night or one Saturday. The permit currently allows up to 40 off-hours operations and the request is to increase to 100. Their permit requires that during an off-hours operation the trucking route is restricted to the route down Empire Grade and Bay Avenue. The application does not request any increase in trucking on San Lorenzo Avenue. The reason you did not receive a notice of the public comment period on the environmental review document is because you live more than 0.5 miles from the boundaries of the quarry property. Notices of public comment periods and public hearings for quarry related applications are sent out to all owners and occupants of properties within 0.5 miles of the quarry. We also sent out notices to all the owners and occupants along the truck route affected by the application along Empire Grade and Bay Avenue for a total of over 650 notices. As you might expect with the current situation we are trying to figure out if and how public hearings will proceed under the Shelter in Place Order. So things are kind of on standby right now. However, you will be added to the mailing list for the future public hearing and you will receive notice at least 10 days prior to the public hearing. No action to approve or deny any requested increase in off-hours operations will occur until the Planning Commission conducts a public hearing and makes a decision. Staff will make a recommendation in the staff report

No afterhours quarry traffic! This is a residential neighborhood and the trucks make our whole house shake!
