The city council officially walked back the closures and committed to keeping our libraries open. Watching my own children grow up in these branches made this fight deeply personal and I am relieved to see them protected. We will keep an eye on the budget process to ensure this promise …

The undersigned members and supporters of Neighborhood Networks hereby petition the Mayor and all members of City Council to keep all 54 of our neighborhood libraries open and functioning at full strength, now and in the future. We pledge that if other revenue sources are unavailable, we are willing to accept the small wage tax increase that might be needed -- far less than 1/10 of one percent -- to keep all existing branch libraries open.

Seeing 250 names on this list hits home because I remember sitting in these exact branches as a kid when I had nowhere else to go. This isn't just about buildings anymore because you have turned this into a real movement to protect our neighborhood hubs.

Seeing one hundred people sign this in such a short time reminds me of how much these branches meant to my own kids growing up. I honestly expected this to be a lonely road but your support proves I am not the only one who refuses to let these doors close.

KEEP THEM OPEN. Seriously, the library is the only place some of these kids have to study. Short sighted move.

I really dont mind paying a little extra tax if it means keeping the doors open. Libraries are for everyone.

Total incompetence. Fix the budget some other way instead of robbing our neighborhoods.

I went to the library as a child and now my grandkids do too. It is a vital part of our community. Cant believe this is even being discussed.
