Dear Dr Muthwa (Acting Vice Chancellor, Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University)

and

Dr Lagardien, (Executive Dean, BES Faculty, Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University)

As a member of the NMMU Post Graduate CTA Class of 2016 within the School of Accounting, I am ready to write my final examinations commencing Tuesday 25 October 2016.

My lectures for this year ended during the second week of September, before the #FMF disruptions interrupted the academic programme.

This has resulted in a lengthy delay which is neither productive nor beneficial.

I believe my extensive preparations have afforded me the opportunity to succeed to the best of my ability and that the School has worked tremendously hard to ensure I am ready.

I am aware that should I believe this were not the case, the School of Accounting would afford me the opportunity of writing a delayed exam later in November, should I choose to do so.

Given that there are complex deadlines for the submission of my marks to SAICA in order for me to write my January 2017 ITC examination, coupled with contractual obligations to enter a 3 year period of articled training as required in order to qualify as a CA(SA), I believe to not commence with my exams on 25 October would be severely prejudicial.

Now that the University has declared it is open and that all activities have resumed, I respectfully petition the NMMU to allow the School of Accounting to commence my final exams as detailed above and put in place the necessary measures to achieve this.

Yours respectfully

CTA Student - Class of 2016
