Deaf and Hard of Hearing Awareness Program
New Jersey State Library - Talking Book and Braille Center has made the decision to end its Deaf and Hard of Hearing Awareness program on July 29, 2011. The state Library for the Blind & Handicapped will just focus on the Blind-talking books and Braille center and eliminate the Deaf program entirely. This is a one of a kind resource center located in Trenton, NJ focusing on the Deaf community.
Programs that will be lost are Books, Videotapes, Magazines, Reference Materials, focusing on Deafhood, Deaf Culture, interpreting, family support, Deaf and Blind, Hard of hearing, CI’s, education, religion, language development and so much more. Equipment education and lending for assisted devices.
As well as the state renowned and only in library ASL Story time!
