This has been an environmental hazard for years. It is so sad to see it continue, and not having a conclusion with results.

I’m an older surfing woman with elderly relatives here. We have curtailed our beach walks and trash pickups that were a regular part of our life here due to this ongoing problem. It’s shameful that this pollution issue has plagued the South Bay for decades. I’m not interested in blaming Mexico, I’m interested in staying safe while we all push our elected officials to find, fund, implement a solution! Appreciate the Nixle updates, this pollution may cause severe illness and even death especially to older people, vulnerable children or anyone with a compromised immune system. Even a small cut or recently shaved legs that get wet on a shoreline stroll will put you at risk. We need alerts to know if we are in danger. Thank you!
