Please help me and all other concerned parents tell Nickelodeon that we do not want romance marketed at our kids. The network has created music videos showcasing the stars of their popular TV shows singing about romantic love, kissing, finding true love and getting back together. While I know that lots of music is about that, never before has music with this theme been so fiercely marketed directly at children, mainly little girls. These music videos are played during the commercial breaks of popular shows that are aimed at tweens and young girls alike - such as iCarly, Big Time Rush, and Victorious. According to TV By The Numbers, iCarly ranks as the number-one series on all of television with kids aged 2-11. This means they have a lot of control over these young, impressionable minds - and that carries a heavy burden of responsibility. Marketing this kind of music directly at children is terribly irresponsible. We urge Nickelodeon to consider the drastic consequences of children rushing into romantic relationships - distraction from school, severe emotional distress (that has far-reaching effects not mentioned here), social problems and sexual activity at younger ages (also carrying miserable consequences).  By signing this petition, you are saying to Nickelodeon, "STOP CREATING SONGS AND MUSIC VIDEOS THAT GLAMORIZE SERIOUS RELATIONSHIPS AND MARKETING THEM TO CHILDREN!!!"
