This needs to happen. I know a guy who hasn't gotten surgery yet because he is prioritizing financially supporting his young son, and no parent should be punished for that.
As a sidenote, the diagnosis of 'Gender Identity Disorder' was superseded in the DSM-5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, edition 5) by the diagnosis 'Gender Dysphoria', and it is now defined as a condition rather than a disorder, so it is very important that the final version of this policy be re-worded to reflect this change.

I'm a transgender woman and I can't afford everything that the current law requires me to afford to get my gender marker changed. I would rather have this done then have to be put through so much discrimination because of me being transgender.

As a trans woman this would make my life so much better! Especially for someone like me who cannot afford the required surgery. :(

it is so stressful every time i have to show my id for a simple transaction. nobody should have to go through that just because they cant pay for a super expensive surgery.
