NFA Dance Program - Make the show 2 nights!
NFA’s Dance Program comes together every spring and puts on a recital/showcase. Students start working on their own choreography in September for the show in May. In the past, the show has been on two nights; one show on Thursday, and one show on Friday. With both nights being nearly sold out, NFA dancers are very disappointed that the show is only one night this year (Friday, May 13th).
With all of the sweat, tears, hard work, and dedication that students put into making the show a success, it is NOT fair to make the show only one night. Many parents work, and simply cannot afford to miss work on Friday, which is only one reason why the show should be more than one night. Last year, the show was talked about for weeks after; it was a jaw-dropping night of talent. Having the show two nights will allow for costumes next year to be cheaper. The more money we raise, the cheaper costumes will be — and costumes aren’t cheap. Most dancers are in at least 6 dances, and costumes can sometimes come out to about $30/each dance. If Slater Auditorium is completely filled, people will be forced to sit in awful seats - where they cannot see. It is not fair to cram people into tiny Slater Auditorium for one night.
Make the show 2 nights!
We are petitioning for the show to be on Thursday, May 12th, in addition to Friday, May 13th. If you could please sign the petition below, it would be greatly appreciated. Please share this with anyone, we want/need as many names as possible.
Thank you,
NFA students
