This group of current 4th graders is the last group of students that should be sent to the high school early. We have been warned that 5-10 years after 12/14 we will start to see more issues including substance abuse. Why would we knowing this information place our children at a younger age in an environment where this problem is more readily available.

Putting 8th graders with high school kids is not developmentally appropriate.

Ninth grade transition is difficult enough for students, socially, emotionally and academically. I firmly believe we are doing our children a huge disservice by considering eliminating their middle school experience at a time when they really need that important transition and middle school experience.

8th graders should not be placed in the high school.
We have a very good set up that works well for the students. Don't screw it up.

Please do not put the 8th grade with the HS. Rework the grades to be k-5, 6-8, 9-12. Thank you.

I feel that pushing kids into high school too early can be detriimental to their emotional growth. There is greater possibility of being exposed to things they might not be ready for. 8th graders are not ready emotionally for high school.
I also feel that attending the middle school is a right of passage. It gives kids their first opportunity for independence. Ex- walking for the first time.

If we have to do something then go back to how it used to be in Newtown where 6-8 were together. But definitely NOT 8th at the high school. This would be a huge mistake in this community.

There is no pedagogical support for the developmental appropriateness of this move.

We do not need to be trailblazing new configurations at this time in the history of our schools.

The 8th grade does not belong in the highschool. PLEASE think about our children and what is best for them. I would much rather spend an extra $100 in taxes each year.

As a parent of a daughter I would not have wanted her to be going to the high school at 12 years old. It is by no means suitable at that age. There is no separation at all that can warrant any parent excepting that as a solution.
Suggestion
Make elementary go K-5 and Reed go 6-8. This is to only except able solution to the issue.
