We must surge funding, investments, and resources in to ALL African American communities; especially in education, healthcare, and African American History. Semper Fi.

Former Newtkn School Committee member. Would be important to loop in work of Social Emotional Learng Alliance for Newton, part of SEL4MA. As a Board member would be happy to make the connection. Thanks!

Very supportive of this initiative. The more people engaged, the more creative ideas.

Seems like common sense!

As a former NPS student of color, I was definitely affected by not seeing many teachers of color. I would also love to see more teachers of color outside of foreign language departments! (Would be interesting to see that data as well.)

Be sure to include Restorative Justice as a student-led program in the high schools. It is critical for dealing with bullying, shunning, name calling, etc. [Communities for Restorative Justice -C4rj.com]

For learning success, please include training for teachers that focuses on *Executive Function*. Students across all cultures struggle with planning, sequencing steps to reach a goal, memory, retrieval of information at the right time, noticing salient factors, etc. One key to good learning for any child from any culture is to have a good teacher who understands *Executive Function* and how to help kids succeed using this knowledge. Not every child struggles with this, but for those who do, it is devastating to be left behind.

As a retired Newton North teacher, parent of two who attended the Newton schools, and grandparent of two current (Day) students, I am heartened to know of this important effort!
