This Petition Aims to Preserve an Endangered People to Prevent Extinction

Police harassment, even sexual, has become an issue in some communities, including the East Bay, targeting endangered peoples.

We ask that the same care and consideration accorded Newts be accorded women and men and children.

To reiterate, we do not think the care and consideration given Newts is undue. We just think endangered people are also due respect, and politely request a stop to brutality.

Quoted one East Bay Regional District Holocaust Survivor Dutch Jew harassed by police on many occasions, "Ouch. Stop." Said Jew preferred to remain anymous.

News Newt Migration Closes South Park Drive in Tilden Regional Park: 2016

From Oct. 31, 2016 through March 31, 2017 South Park Drive in Tilden Regional Park will be closed to all automobile traffic to protect migrating and breeding newts. Bicycles are allowed, although bicyclists are asked to proceed slowly and avoid newts crossing the road. Dogs may be off-leash on South Park Drive during the closure, but they must be under voice control and owners must carry a leash.
