We, the undersigned, call upon Torridge District Council to reverse their decision and NOT sell New Street car park in Torrington. This car park is a valuable asset to the town. Not only is it used for residents and visitor parking, but lorries and coaches/buses park there also. The roads are clogged with on-street parking, so if the car park closed, it would be a disaster. Torridge District Council provide public services. New Street car park, whether profitable or not, provides an essential public service. If we lose this one, what next Please sign this petition and encourage your friends to sign it. We will present it to TDC in January. **UPDATE** At a meeting on 14th January 2008, TDC ratified their decision to sell the car park without further assessment or consultation. The buyer is LIDL, a low cost German supermarket. The fight must now be focused on the planning application. Please continue to sign the petition. We will present it as an objection to the planning application when it is submitted.
