The renovation team just confirmed they are starting the work to give the Markley family the accessible home they have needed for so long. Seeing their relief is everything I hoped for when I started this and I am overwhelmed by the kindness you all showed to my friends. We …
Let me tell you about the Markley Family. This family is full of pride. They never ask for help but will accept it gratefully. The set up of their home makes an already challenging life even more difficult. Because their two sons, Ken and Phil, are young men with Duchenne Muscular Dystropy who have tracheostomies and are ventilator dependent, the room in their home must be reserved for medical equipment and supplies. Both young men use power wheelchairs and the floor must be left clear and open so they can fit through the house. Due to doorway style and layout of the house this is very difficult anyway. The once fireplace is now a closet in the young men\'s living area and much of this space is reserved for medical equipment. The rooms are small. It is very difficult for company to visit as there is no space, no seating not even a table where we can set dinner if we make it for them. The family of five cannot eat together. If we help with laundry there is no place to set it. The rugs are worn due to wheelchair traffic. Their van is getting old and the lift is getting rusty and worn. It must be driven with extra care to extend the life of the vehicle.
Sylvia and Dean have no time for themselves. We can offer to assist Ken and Phil, but only a licensed nurse can take care of them medically because of the tracheostomies and ventilators. Sylvia and Dean must be there for backup in case there is an emergency. In case of fire there is no easy escape and no place to go in case of tornado. They never give up and make the most of what they have. This family deserves all the help they can get and we need to get all the signatures we need for Extreme Home Make Over. ASAP - Always Say a Prayer. This family never complains even though there is no time, money or energy left in a day to take care of daily chores, keep the house from disrepair. We need your help - please sign this petition and let\'s \"Move That Bus for the Markleys!\"
God Bless, Sandy Bonacorsi

Watching the numbers climb brings me so much hope because I know Ken and Phil deserve a home that fits their needs. We need to reach that next milestone before I present our case to the organizers. Please post this link to your social media so we can get there today.

I spent the morning at the house watching Sylvia try to navigate the hallway while balancing medical supplies and dinner plates. Seeing the reality of their daily struggle reinforces why this project is so urgent for Ken and Phil. I am currently reaching out to local contractors to see who might be willing to donate their time and expertise to fix these accessibility barriers.
