Newhall District - Please fix your school calendar problem!

This has been a long time issue. Its about time it's being addressed!

My niece and nephew have four children in the Newhall School District. I can't imagine that there is a valid reason for this policy. Can the Newhall School Board come up with a valid reason ?

Seems common sense to align all school district calendars. I have not yet heard any reasonable explanation otherwise. Common sense and reasonability is what I vote for.

I have not yet experienced this as my children are all still young, but it sounds horrible and I feel for the families that it is currently affecting. Fix your calendar!

I'm so glad to see someone is finally trying to fix this issue. It is a burden for all families and there is no need for the differing schedules.

2 weeks at Spring Break right before testing and summer break has never sounded like a good idea to me! I am a credentialed teacher with 24 years of experience in elementary school.

Please coordinate school calendars.

YOU NEED TO KEEP ALL SCHOOLS ON THE SAME SCHEDULE!!!

At least 3 weeks our families schedules can't coordinate and it's time for a change. A change or I will have to take my grade schooler out of school on days my older kids have out so our family can spend time together.

Thank you Thank you Thank you for undertaking this effort to get the school schedules aligned. We will eventually have 4 kids throughout Stevenson Ranch Elementary, Rancho Pico and West Ranch High and we are DREADING having the differing schedules. Friends who have kids across the schools say it's simply torture to have the schedules misaligned...especially vacation dates and school starting / ending dates!

This is my child's last year at SRE so I will not only have 2 children at different schools but my family will share the burden as other families do with a calendar that doesn't coordinate. This is unacceptable and needs to finally be fixed. I have yet to hear a single parent say, "this calendar is working for our family." Please listen to YOUR community!

I agree. The calendar is horrible!

Newhall District needs to consider who pays their salaries.

I do not have kids in the Newhall District anymore, but when I did those calendars were ridiculous! I would complain and they always said the teachers voted on it. I couldn't wait for the teachers to have kids in elementary and junior high! Eliminate the 2 days in October from the Hart District and add them to Thanksgiving. Match up the winter and Spring breaks. It's torture for all parents with kids in both districts.

Please line these up! Unfortunately our family is in the last year at the elementary school but have always had to try to figure out vacations & childcare. It's been very frustrating!!!

I have lived in WI, MN, and CT and none of the school districts there have this issue. Between the different schedules, minimum days, and no school buses it is hard for both parents to work to afford living in CA.

You really need to fix this! Our family was spit up for three weeks for the first time over the summer! We have one kid at Pacerita and two at Valencia Valley. The fact you're not on the same schedule is ridiculous when we're all in the same little valley.

Please sinc the Newhall and Hart school district calendars.
