Final supporters
The New Fairfield school system currently has one School Resource Officer (SRO), who divides his time between 4 schools. We are requesting an additional School Resource Officer to support the New Fairfield Schools.
This officer will have special training:
·to offer counseling on topics such as suicide prevention and early recognition of antisocial behaviors
·will have enforcement power to address behavioral or safety issues in the schools,
·and will bring educational programs such as internet-safety, fraud prevention, drug education, and prevention of cyber bullying to the entire community.
Most importantly this officer will be a resource to the teachers so they can focus their efforts on education. During non-school hours/Summer months, this officer will serve as an additional police resource for the town.

Thanks for your hard work and leadership to bring this important need to fruition.
The more staff looking out for our children, the better ! Especially in regard to substance abuse and cybercrimes .
I was an assistant principal at NFHS and worked closely with SRO Casey. SROs make a difference in our schools.
New Fairfield Schools are in need of additional trained SRO to ensure the safety of our students.
we need an SRO dedicated to the high school, then the other one can move between middle school and elementary.

The elected officials of New Fairfield should listen to to the tax paying parents of New Fairfield and fund the SRO. The objective is to create a safer environment for the children within the town. At the moment our elected officials are debating which department should fund this if any. This is not a matter of which town deparent funds the SRO. This is a matter of safety and listen to the community and how to properly allocate tax funds.
