Yes - of course Newcastle can do what Brisbane City Council has done and - even do better - "Newcastle City Council, please ban the use of: plastic straws, plastic bags, disposable coffee cups and lids, helium balloons and plastic bottles from all Council operations. Also, please do even better than BCC by ensuring (not just encouraging) that all Council sponsored events are free of these single use plastics."

It's a no brainer! We can't afford to keep using plastic unnecessarily and unconsciously!

Council, stop car sales yards , for example Kloster Group on Tudor Street , Newcastle West & Hamilton East/ Hamilton from using balloons to attract customers. Unfortunately some escape and head to to ocean.

The amount of single use plastic I find whilst surfing here in Newcastle is ludicrous. Especially balloons with strings!

I use a keep cup for my coffee everywhere I go. Cafe's should be encouraged to offer a discount for using our own cups! Council should put some funds towards those initiatives to!
