SHARE (Supporting Hospitals Abroad with Resources and Equipment) is a volunteer organization of undergraduates, medical students, and health professionals at Johns Hopkins University that retrieves, packages, and ships medical supplies, which can no longer be used domestically to hospitals and clinics in the developing world.
SHARE volunteers and supporters are petitioning for a new and bigger SHARE room.
SHARE receives between one and two thousand pounds of supplies each month from a growing list of hospital departments. As a result, we are tight on space for our volunteers.
Currently, we have a very small storage room in the basement of the hospital. It is difficult for our volunteers to move in our room, because of overflowing bags that spill out into the hallway. Our lack of space poses several safety hazards, interferes with hospital functions, and is hindering SHARE's efficiency and effectiveness.
We are petitioning for more space in order to receive more supplies from the hospital and to continue shipping more equipment to our partners.
Having more space is crucial for SHARE to better service those in desperate need of medical supplies.
