The New York Student Special Interest Group, or NY SSIG, is an organization of PT and PTA students in New York State that includes elected positions such as the executive board and SSIG Liaisons from every student class. It is designed to give students more opportunities to grow as a professional and find their place in the physical therapy community. The SSIG's objectives are as follows:

  • Create fun opportunities for students to network
  • Promote student leadership
  • Increase student membership and active participation in the APTA and NYPTA
  • Provide resources to develop students' professional skills
  • Advocate for student interests
  • Further the profession of physical therapy in the state of New York

The NY SSIG is seeking recognition by the state chapter, the NYPTA, to become an official organization. Please sign this petition in support of creating this new organization, the NY SSIG, for PT and PTA students in New York.

DPT student at Stony Brook University. This would be a great way to stay connected with other programs across the state.

We students need such a group of interest. It is essential for us to be involved with the NYPTA through the SSIG and get some experience as leaders within our class.

Please approve this to allow for students to gain more opportunities and resources to expand our education about the profession and it's many aspects.
