The school board finally backed down and scrapped their disastrous schedule proposal. We stopped this nonsense because we refused to sit back while they ruined our school day. Keep your eyes open because we will be watching them like hawks if they try this again.

The new "common learning time" is not flexible for high-efficient students. The new schedule is not a good way to encourage kids to be efficient and independent.
Academic Lab was a vital part in allowing me to do my homework on my own schedule, and also helped me spend more time doing extracurriculars if I had no need for teacher help. Structuring everything limits students even more and renders them completely unprepared for college.
Ac lab is the only way to go about this, having gone to a school before where you had 7 classes in one day, I can day that it has way more stress, is much more tiring then the normal block days and ready established. Keep and ready lab, no change.
I can appreciate that teachers want a set schedule since Ac Lab can be hectic at times, but this will ultimately detract from our making the best use of that time.
As Ladue High School Alumni, we all appreciated Academic Lab. As faculty you can't monitor Academic Lab 100% for those who fail to utilize the privileged time in students scheduled. But don't punish the student body as a whole for those who don't use that time appropriately. There are more students who benefit from that time than others.
Ram days are fine if you really want them, just atleast change it to every Wednesday is a ram day
Conversation of the night... Me: The new schedule will require 16 more tables in the cafeteria and running 130 more students through the lunch line in 7 less minutes. Kids are complaining there's no place to sit and they go sit outside already, let alone when you cram students into every available space in the cafeteria. Actual Student: I have to eat in the Commons because there's no place to sit. Mr. Tarpey: We've never heard any complaints. And we run C/D lunch on early dismissal days with no problem. Student, Class of 2014: C/D lunch was hell! The lunch plan of the new schedule is an obvious weak link that they are glossing over. Perhaps Mr. Tarpy, and all the admins and Board members need to hear from students and their parents what lunch at LHWHS is REALLY like. Email and/or tell them all personally. Speak now, or forever hold your peace. Don't let them get away with such an obvious lie.

AcLab is one of the things that keep my brothers afloat at the high school. I'll be there next year and I have a feeling I'm going to need it just as much.
