There is a need in PADA to capture and keep those players in Summer League(SL) who are leaving as they become less competitive due to age, injury or other, shepherd those players in Uhle through a more competitive bridge to the competitiveness of SL and offer a spot to those who will never make the jump to SL but still wish to play competitive ultimate. At some point in all long term SL players career there comes a time when they look down the field and realize that they can no longer play on a level that is necessary for them to enjoy the game as well as contribute to the welfare of the team. Currently the only choice for these players is retirement, which is a huge detriment to PADA as many times they are mentors for many of the newer players in SL. If you've ever captained a Uhle league team and played SL then you know that the experience levels are vast and making the jump from Uhle to SL is intimidating if not a complete roadblock for some. Combining the upcoming new players of Uhle with the declining but very experienced players of SL is a win-win for both the players and the growth of SL and PADA in general.

We believe this can be accomplished with a small tweak to the rules by adding a spirit rule with the goal of

1) Keeping the new league a competitive one

2) Establishing fair playing time for players of all levels

3) Restricting dominating players from never leaving the field

The new rule would state (assuming a gender ratio of 4/3) that if a team has greater than or equal to 8 men or greater than or equal to 6 women on the sideline than no player of that gender shall play more than 2 points in a row and if a team has less than 8 men or less than 6 women than no player of the same gender shall sit on the sideline more than 2 points in a row. This rule would be flexible in that 1) a single point can run long 2) a player may not be able to play 2 points in a row.
