The council just confirmed they are funding the new station and the jet bike. I am honestly in shock that this actually happened. This outcome belongs entirely to you for refusing to be silent about our beach safety.

I'm starting a petition to have our local government fund an idea I have had. Recent events have been tragic and heartbreaking. And it's not the first time this has happened. The rip tide here makes it especially dangerous. I think they should fund a small lifeguard shack on the end of the pier. Nothing to major but there should be a permanent lifeguard presence (even if it's just 1 guard at a time) in the shack. With a jet bike kept on standby at all times. It would not cost to much to set up and it would have made all the difference. I'm not having a go at our emergency services in any way. They acted exceptionally but I believe this is a course of action that could prevent this happening again and I also believe we need to act in some way to make it safer for all swimmers. It's time something was done and I believe this should be the start. Please share this and get as many signitures as we possibly can

I have been reading through the stories you all are sharing and they are truly heart-wrenching to see. This has become so much bigger than I ever imagined when I started and it is your dedication that is forcing people to finally pay attention.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many people have joined this cause. If you could send the link to just a few friends today we might be able to reach that milestone together.

Clacton also needs warning boards near the pier but more lifeguards to ensure people use the beach safely is a start. All public beaches need to be made safe .. beach safety flags to mark safe swimming zones would also be useful .. as is done on public beaches in Australia.

A fantastic idea and a worthy cause. I have children and I'm terrified to take them to the beach after what happened. A station there would put so many minds at rest and potentially save many xx

The recent sad loss raises this as a priority issue. With the likelihood of ongoing heatwaves and crowded beaches this action is essential for safety. let some good come out of this tragedy.

Great idea a lifeguard at the end of the pier at all times then some other family might not be going through what Ben’s family and friends are going through at this moment. Surely if that 1 lifeguard can prevent another tradgedy it’s worth it.

I was thinking about the lack of beach patrol on the east side of the pier, particularly now it has been developed to be more accessible. Perhaps this is something which should be consider in addition.
