Dear NKT-IKBU Education Council and Gen-la Dekyong,
Most are not paid or are paid only enough for living expenses. This makes it impossible for them to invest in any social security or retirement packages.
At the moment, the NKT does not take any financial or practical responsibility for these people who serve the tradition when they retire due to old age or illness.
This petition is for a needs assessment to be drawn up regarding the needs of ageing and sick Sangha with a plan to provide minimal financial support in the future so they do not find themselves in difficult situations.
